Chinese ambassador says "Good riddance" as Germany leaves UN Security Council

Germany's UN envoy, Ambassador Christoph Heusgen urged China to free two detained Canadians for Christmas as Germany stands a week away from finishing a two-year term on the 15-member council. "I wish to say something out of the bottom of my heart: Good riddance, Ambassador Heusgen," China's deputy UN ambassador, Geng Shuang responded while accusing Heusgen of abusing the platform to launch "malicious" attacks on other members.
