Delhi court sentences former Union minister Dilip Ray to 3 years in prison in coal scam case

Former Union minister Dilip Ray, who served as the minister of state (coal) in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, has been sentenced to three-year imprisonment by a Delhi Court in a coal scam case. Ray has been imprisoned in connection with the irregularities in the allocation of a Jharkhand coal block in 1999. The CBI had demanded life imprisonment for other convicts including two senior officials of the Ministry of Coal.
