Election Commission: Assembly polls in Jammu & Kashmir likely to be held later this year

The Election Commission said that assembly polls in J&K likely to be held later this year & would be announced after the Amarnath Yatra ends. The Amarnath Yatra starts on July 1, on day 1 of Masik Shivratri & ends on August 15, on the day of Shravan Poornima. J&K has been without an elected government since June 2018 when the BJP-NDP alliance broke; & was under governor's rule till Dec 2018, later came under President's rule.
