Former defence chief Gotabaya Rajapaksa elected as new Sri Lanka President

Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is a former defence secretary and younger brother of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been elected as the new President of Sri Lanka in recently concluded elections which held seven months after terror attacks killed 269 people. Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said that Gotabaya won 53-54 percent of the vote. He will be sworn in tomorrow or the day after, he added.
