Govt opens 137 Himalayan peaks for trekking and expeditions for foreigners

To push tourism in the country, the Government has opened 137 Himalayan peaks for the foreigners, including Kanchenjunga, for mountaineering expeditions and trekking. Presently, the foreigners need to have permission from the Defense and Home ministry to climb these peaks. Tourism minister Prahlad Patel has called this decision 'Historic.' However, in the case of satellite phones, proper permissions will be required.
