Govt slashes knee implant cost by 70 per cent

The government has slashed prices of knee implants by up to 70%. The price of the widely-used cobalt chromium has come down from Rs. 1,58,324 to Rs. 54,720. Similarly, the price of special metals like titanium and oxidised zirconium have been slashed by almost 70%, to Rs 76,600 from Rs 2.49 lakh and prices of implants in revision knee replacement have been cut by 59%.
