GST council meeting: Caffeinated drinks gets costlier, Tax relief for hotels

Hours after bringing cheer to India Inc with reduction of corporate tax, FM Sitharaman addresses the press after 37th GST Council meet and said that Caffeinated drinks will attract 28% with an additional cess of 12% while tax rates imposed on hotel tariffs above Rs 7,500 reduced to 18% from 28%. GST on railway wagons increased to 12% from 5%. However, a uniform rate of 12% proposed for woven and non-woven polyethylene bags.
