Russia is one of the closest allies of India and it became even more evident after Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov pitched for India's permanent membership in United Nations Security Council. "We are convinced that the overriding trend of the global development is the objective process of the formation of new centres of economic might, financial power & political influence & India is obviously one of them," he said.
