Iran President Hassan Rouhani has hinted the Islamic Republic might go for a referendum regarding its nuclear program despite the unraveling deal with world powers and tensions with the US. A referendum may well offer political cover for the Iranian government if it decides to increase its enrichment of uranium, prohibited under the 2015 deal with world powers. Rouhani had previously suggested a referendum in 2004.
