The US has changed its stance on Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The US said the settlements were no longer inconsistent with international law. State Secretary Mike Pompeo said the status of the West Bank was for Israelis and Palestinians to negotiate. Israel had established the communities on the occupied land in the 1967 Middle East war. Palestine called the decision is a risk to "global stability".
