Japan's ruling party has set September 14 as the date for the voting to elect PM Shinzo Abe's successor. Chief cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga is running ahead in the race for the country's next Prime Minister. The Liberal Democratic Party's new leader will have to win the parliament's trust in order to lead the country amid the coronavirus crisis and the ongoing tensions with China over the Senkaku island dispute.
