LS Phase VI : 63% Voter turnout recorded in 59 seats amidst violence in West Bengal

Phase VI of Lok Sabha elections were held in 14 seats in UP, 10 seats in Haryana, 8 each in Bihar, MP, W.Bengal, 7 in Delhi & 4 in Jharkhand. A total of 63% voter turnout was recorded in 59 seats as per data by Election Commission. Prominent candidates in the 6th phase were senior Congress leader Sheila Dixit, boxer Vijender Singh, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir.
