Mamta Banerjee says Bangladeshis living in West Bengal are Indian citizens, no need to apply for citizenship

West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee said in her controversial statement over CAA and NRC on Tuesday that people from Bangladesh who have been living in West Bengal and exercising their electoral rights in the state need not apply from fresh citizenship. Mamta, while addressing a public meeting at Kaliaganj in West Bengal said that she will not let “a single person” to be driven out of the state.
