Multidimensional poverty has decreased in India

Multidimensional poverty defines poor who are economically poor but also suffer from poor health, poor quality of work, and the threat of violence. According to the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), 2019 from the UN Development Programme the number of poor people in India have decreased by half in between 2005-06 to 2015-16, due to faster progress among the poorest states in the country.
