Starting the judgement by saying 'it’s better to be unique than to be best', SC upholds the validity of Aadhaar on the controversial issue after hearing 27 petitions for a record 38 days. The bench said that Aadhaar empowers marginalised section and collects “minimum possible data”. Court also strikes down section 54 of Aadhaar Act, 2016 which says private body to seek Aadhaar data, terming it unconstitutional.
