Setback for Congress as SC dismissed Rafale review petition, 36 jets deal upheld

In a major relief for the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, the SC dismissed the Rafale review petition unanimously. The bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi refused to change its December 2018 verdict. The court said it cannot undermine the fact that it is dealing with a contract pending with the government for long and it would not be appropriate to conduct a probe into the Rafale deal. This can be a massive blow for Congress.
