Siddaramaiah government nods to new religion status for Lingayats

Much to the BJP’s dismay, Siddaramaiah govt has given nod to the recommendation of a separate religion for the Lingayats. Before the assembly elections, the separate religion status to Lingayat community is being viewed as a political tactic. Subramanian Swami of BJP has called this move ‘anti-national’ and had said that the Lingayat community should realize that it is not in their best interest.
