Since Karnataka's formation in 1956, the state has had 25 chief ministers, but only three of them have served their full five-year tenure, with all three belonging to the Congress party. The Kumaraswamy led coalition govt being the latest to drop. In fact, Kumaraswamy's first stint as CM in the BJP-led coalition govt lasted less than 2 years from Feb 2006 to Oct 2007. While BJP's Yeddyurappa third stint as CM lasted only 7 days in 2018.
