Andy Murray fought back to beat Tallon Griekspoor as Great Britain beat Holland. The Scot came from a set down and railed 4-1 in the deciding set in Madrid to topple spirited Griekspoor 6-7 (7/9), 6-4, 7-6 (7/5). A scrappy win gifted Great Britain the lead in their Group E opening tie and latter despite Dan losing the second singles rubber to Robin Haase, Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski secured the win in the doubles.
