ICC has threatened to take the 2021 Champions Trophy and the 2023 World Cup out of India if BCCI doesn't pay them $23 million before December 31 as compensation for the tax deductions for hosting the 2016 World T20 in India. However, BCCI has refused to pay the amount claiming that it never guaranteed tax exemption on behalf of the Indian government and any move to shift the two tournaments will be viewed seriously.
