The Board of Control for Cricket in India earlier vouched for a ten-team IPL starting from 2021. But the plan seems to have taken the back seat as the board is now thinking of a nine-team tournament and the tenth team will be introduced only after 2022. The board will have the option to introduce the tenth team only after the new FTP is formed in 2023. The report suggests the board is seeking a base price of around Rs. 2000 crore.
