A brace from Koji Miyoshi guided Japan to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Uruguay in the Copa America. Miyoshi twice gave Japan the lead only for Uruguay to level through a controversial penalty from Luis Suarez and a 2nd-half header from Jose Gimenez. The VAR decision came when it ruled Japan’s Ueda fouled Cavani prompting the referee to point to the spot but questions remain whether Japan faced a harsh reality.
