Displaying a brilliant example of power tennis Dominic Thiem knocked out 11-time champion Rafael Nadal from the Barcelona Open after a 6-4 6-4 win in Saturday’s semifinal. The Austrian avenged his defeat at the hands of the Spaniard in last year’s French Open final. Thiem will now meet 23-year-old Daniil Medvedev in the final after the young Russian also registered a surprise win by beating Kei Nishikori 6-4 3-6 7-5.
