After relatively slow starts in his first two US Open encounters, Roger Federer was finally able to take his game to next level with a composed 6-2 6-2 6-1 win over Briton Daniel Evans to reach the US Open last 16 in New York. Meanwhile, defending champion Novak Djokovic silenced all concerns about his left shoulder as he eased past American Denis Kudla 6-3 6-4 6-2 on Friday to reach the last 16 as well.
