Injured Simona Halep withdraws from Stuttgart Open

World no.2 Simona Halep has withdrawn from this week’s WTA tournament in Stuttgart owing to a hip injury. Halep was supposed to play the first match on Wednesday as a star-studded line-up including world no.1 Naomi Osaka and Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber has made the event more interesting. The decision came after the Romanian hurt her hip during a Fed Cup tie against France’s Caroline Garcia last weekend.
