IOC has a three-month timeframe to decide whether Tokyo Olympics will be staged as the fast-spreading virus from China threatens this year’s Summer Games. However, International Olympic Committee has urged athletes to keep training. About 11,000 are expected to take part in the Olympics, and another 4,400 in the Paralympics. Incidentally, in 1940 Tokyo had lost the chance to stage the games during World War II.
