Rafael Nadal showed no mercy to an emotional David Ferrer as he cruised into the quarters of Barcelona Open after a straight-sets victory. Ferrer will be retiring after the Madrid Open next month but had to face a tearful exit in his last appearance at the Barcelona event. However, there was no such room for sentiment for Nadal, who hammered a 6-3, 6-3 win to take one step closer to a record 12th Barcelona crown.
