New Zealand’s experienced pace bowlers Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Neil Wagner were right on track on the first day of the opening test against tourists England, bowling superbly before Ben Stokes inflicted some late hitting to guide England to a decent 241-4 by the end of the day. Stokes (67 not out) brought fresh air to England’s innings after New Zealand conceded around two runs an over for most of the day.
