US Open champion Rafael Nadal had to withdraw from the Laver Cup with a swollen left hand. The Spaniard now intends to take a break from tennis to recover from the hand injury. Nadal was supposed to partner Roger Federer for Team Europe in the opening match of the day and face Nick Kyrgios in singles. He came straight for the Geneva event after his US Open heroics, where he beat Daniil Medvedev in a 5-setter final.
