Serena Williams will warm-up for January’s Australian Open at the Auckland Classic. Williams had suffered a shock second-round defeat in her only previous outing in New Zealand in 2017 when she criticized the windy conditions terming it the least favourite. But she claimed the Australian Open later that month, which was the most recent of her 23 majors to go past Steffi Graf’s Open-era milestone of 22.
