Apple ventures into digital talent scouting, acquires Asaii

Apple, which wishes to change the label structure in the music industry by becoming talent scouts, has now acquired Asaii, a California-based "automated A&R and music analytics platform" for $100 million. The digital talent scout, which was meant to shut down on October 14, uses an algorithm to analyse catalogs of artists on streaming platforms like Soundcloud to find a hot new artist '10 weeks before they chart'.
