Apple, Samsung Smartphones worth $700 million stuck at Indian customs for violating e-waste norms

Smartphones, electronic raw materials worth over $50 billion are stranded at customs as the Indian government takes a strong stand against the violations of e-waste norms. Companies like Apple, Samsung, HP, Vivo & Motorola were found to have violated EPR Clause of India's e-waste management rules that came in 2016, now stuck with suspended import permits after CPCB found discrepancies in how e-wastes managed by them.
