India has decided to deny the renewal of the 1989 agreement with Pakistan on sharing any hydrological data during floods. Due to increased tensions in the changed status of Jammu and Kashmir as two different union territories, India did not renew the agreement this year. This particular step although has nothing to do with the Indus Water Treaty signed between both the countries and is said to remain unchanged.
