UN Environment Programme awards Cochin Airport for running fully on solar power

United Nations has bestowed its Champions of the Earth award on Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), which is the world's first fully solar-powered airport, for its use of sustainable energy and entrepreneurial vision. Showing the world that an expanding business can be sustainable, CIAL will soon save Rs 40 crores by upgrading to a solar capacity of 40MW with a power potential of 60 million units per year.
