Bhoomi, a digital land records database jointly started by the Central and Karnataka government in 2002, was breached last week. As the changes made in the database are recorded automatically, the monitoring cell discovered that 19 acres of government wasteland in Devanahalli area, around 40 km from Bengaluru had been transferred to a private individual. Land sharks are thought to be behind this breach.
