Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly known as Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 English novel. Alice, a young girl, falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world full of anthropomorphic creatures. It is regarded as an example of literary nonsense. For the published version of the book, the artist John Tenniel provided 42 wood engraved illustrations.
