In 1903, a grand durbar, or formal celebration, honours King Edward VII's coronation as Emperor of India in Delhi.
The durbar was conducted to commemorate Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark's ascension as Emperor and Empress of India. Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India, meticulously planned the two weeks of celebrations. It was a spectacular display of pomp and strength, as well as split-second timing.
