When Rahul Vaidya appeared on TV screens for participating in the 14th edition of the Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss, people recognized him instantly. While it was a new stage for the singer, he had already participated in several singing reality shows. That made him one of the most famous faces in India's most popular and entertaining house. Rahul entered the house with a chocolate boy image and managed to carry it with him while going out as the show's runner-up.

But for those finding it hard to remember the versatile singer, let's turn the pages backwards and start from the beginning.

Rahul Vaidya Early Life and Career

Rahul was born on September 23, 1987, in Nagpur to Krushna Vaidya, an engineer in the Maharashtra State Electricity Board and Geeta Vaidya. He comes from a typical Marathi family. The 5 feet 5 inches tall singer studied music under Himanshu Manocha and participated in several music competitions.

Rahul did his schooling at Hansraj Moraji Public School Mumbai and went to Mithibai College in Maharashtra's capital.

Rahul's singing potential was first noticed by his mother while singing a Lord Ganesha Bhajan at a local event in his childhood. His parents always supported him with his singing. Rahul also took professional guidance from legendary singers Suresh Wadkar and Padma Wadkar. He also lent his voice for many TV commercials and jingles.

He was in class 12th when he participated in the singing reality show Indian Idol in 2004. After getting initial success in 2004 and 2005, Rahul also worked as a radio jockey. He hosted popular shows like Jhoom India and Aaja Mahi Vay.

His next reality TV appearance was in Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar in 2008. The following year in 2009, Rahul participated in another reality show named Music Ka Maha Muqabla. 2010 was equally remarkable for Rahul as he performed for the Sankalp Group in Navratri Festival in place of Falguni Pathak. Rahul won both the reality shows that he participated in in 2008 and 2009, which helped him gain popularity and gain a fan base.

He has also sung several songs for Bollywood that include God Promise Dil, Chunar Chunar from Kaise Pyaar Karun, Baaton Ko Teri Unplugged from All is Well, and Meri Zindagi from Bhaag Johny.

Apart from singing for Bollywood films, Rahul has also released his albums that include Fan, Vande Mataram, Do Chaar Din, and Keh Do Na.

While Rahul sang minimal songs for Bollywood movies, he continued to sing in concerts in and outside the country. He also signed an Indo-Bangladeshi film named 'Senapati a Legacy of Blood' in 2016.

Apart from singing reality shows, Rahul has also participated in other reality shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2014 and Bigg Boss 14. Rahul's friendship with Pavitra Punia and rivalry with Jaan Kumar Sanu, the singer Kumar Sanu's son, really entertained them. He was one of the most popular contestants in the show and was declared the season's runner-up.

Rahul Vaidya's videos on Youtube get millions of views. In one of his interviews, Rahul had revealed that he was not obsessed with singing for Bollywood, and earnings from concerns were sufficient for him. Rahul is an animal lover and a religious person. He has immense faith in Lord Ganesha.
