The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a nonprofit organisation in the United States that coordinates the maintenance and procedures of several databases related to the Internet's namespaces and numerical spaces, ensuring the network's stable and secure operation. According to the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) function contract, ICANN is responsible for the actual technical maintenance of the Central Internet Address pools and DNS root zone registries.
