TABLE MOUNTAIN
Table Peak, Afrikaans Tafelberg, a flat-topped mountain in southwestern South Africa that dominates the northern end of the high, rocky Cape Peninsula and overlooks Cape Town and Table Bay. Its tabular appearance is caused by nearly horizontal layers of sandstone that have been exposed by vigorous wind and water erosion. The legend of the devil and Van Hunks (a local mythical pirate) creating the "table cloth" on Table Mountain is one of the most well-known Table Mountain myths. According to legend, Van Hunks arrived at his normal vantage point high atop the mountain to see a stranger seated underneath his beloved tree.
MOUNT ETNA
Mount Etna, Latin Aetna, Sicilian Mongibello, active volcano on Sicily's east coast. The name Aitne is derived from the Greek with, which means "I burn." Mount Etna is Europe's tallest active volcano, with a peak height of around 10,900 meters. Mount Etna is synonymous with two main myths. After a long fight, Zeus subdued the monster Typhon by hurling Mount Etna on top of him in the first. The second story holds that Persephone enjoyed gathering flowers on Etna's lower slopes and dancing with the nymphs on the Enna plain.
MOUNT FUJI
Japanese Mount Fuji Fuji-san, also written Fujisan, is Japan's highest peak, also known as Fujiyama or Fuji no Yama. It reaches a height of 12,388 feet. One well-known story about the formation of Mt. Fuji is folklore about a woodsman who was awakened by a noisy noise that he mistook for an earthquake. When he searched near his home, he noticed that a mountain had risen in the land that had previously been level. The woodsman was so taken by the mountain's enigmatic nature that he called it Fuji-yama, or the Never-Dying Mountain.

Mount Everest, Sanskrit, and Nepali Sagarmatha, Tibetan Chomolungma, mountain on the crest of the Great Himalayas of southern Asia, bordering Nepal and Tibet. Mount Everest is the tallest peak in the world, rising 29,032 feet above sea level. For decades, Mount Everest has influenced common myths. According to Tibetan Buddhists, the summit is home to Miyolangsangma, the inexhaustible-giving goddess who flies a golden tigress. The Sherpas conclude that the area magnifies the karmic consequences of behavior. The stories go beyond urban legend.
HALF DOME
Half Dome is a granite dome in Yosemite National Park, California, at the eastern edge of Yosemite Valley. It is a well-known rock formation in the park, so-called because of its unique appearance. One side has a sheer profile, while the other three are smooth and oval, giving the impression of a dome divided in two.
MOUNT OLYMPUS
Mount Olympus, Modern Greek Olympos, is Greece's tallest mountain top. It is located near the Gulf of Thérmai and is part of the Olympus massif. Mount Olympus was the home of the gods and the location of Zeus' throne in Greek mythology. In Greece and Asia Minor, the term Olympus was applied to a number of other mountains, peaks, cities, and legendary figures.
MOUNT KAILASH
Mount Kailash, sacred to over a billion Buddhists, Hindus, and Jains, is probably the world's holiest peak. The striking physical position of Kailash, a lone peak isolated from the main Himalayan range in Tibet's Kangdise mountains, contributes significantly to its influence. It is Lord Shiva's new abode, which is also why no one has been able to reach the summit. Apart from being Shiva's abode, Kailash Parvat is also regarded as one of the Asthapad, where their first Tirthankara, Rishabdev, is said to have attained nirvana.
