David Lawrence Schwimmer, an American actor, comedian, director, and producer, was born on November 2, 1966. He rose to fame by playing Ross Geller in the sitcom Friends, for which he was nominated in 1995 for an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Primetime Emmy Award and won a Screen Actors Guild Award. His first major motion picture role was in The Pallbearer (1996) while he was still performing in Friends. This was followed by parts in Kissing a Fool, Six Days, Seven Nights, Apt Pupil (all 1998), and Picking Up the Pieces (2000). He was then chosen to play Herbert Sobel in the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers.
