Exemption of registration fees for battery operated electric vehicles?

To boost greener, non-polluting vehicles on Indian roads the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has reportedly issued a draft notification which will exempt battery operated vehicles from paying registration fees. The ministry has also started the process to accumulate differential registration fees under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. Currently, 7000 electric vehicles are driving on Indian roads.
