Annual losses in debt laden discoms reduced to Rs 17350 crore under Uday scheme

The Uday Scheme launched by Modi government in November 2015 to restructure power distribution sector has led to a reduction in financial and operational losses. A Deutsche Bank report observed that debt-laden discoms saw a 70% reduction in losses in the last two years. The aggregate technical and commercial losses were also reduced by 5%. The results are still not at par with the targeted trajectory.
