Bank frauds leave no cushion against unexpected loss, RBI report on state banks
RBI report has observed that weak profitability in last two quarters has left the commercial banks vulnerable against unexpected losses. Bad bank loans will lead to an inability to meet a minimum capital requirement. The report found that 1/4th banks have suffered bad loans with PNB being the worst hit due to Nirav Modi scam. State-run banks lost Rs. 30000 crores, being victims of 85% of fraud cases in last two years.
