A $22 billion stock buyout is bringing Dell back to the public market after it went private in 2013. Despite it becoming a publicly-traded company, CEO/founder Michael Dell and investment firm Silver Lake will still remain in charge of the company. VMWare, acquired by Dell in 2015, will remain in control of Dell and Silver Lake. Dell was a private firm for 5 years due to a $25 billion buyout by Dell and Silver Lake.
