Finance Ministry may consider imposing 18% GST on Bitcoin trading in India

Bitcoin trading may soon become costlier in the country as the finance ministry is planning to levy an 18% GST on the trading of cryptocurrency in the country. As per the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), an arm of the finance ministry has sent a proposal to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs regarding the same. The finance ministry sees the scope of receiving Rs 7,200 crore revenue by imposing GST.
