In 2017, 207 Environmental Activists Were Killed

In 2017, more than 200 environmentalists were killed. Global Witness recorded 207 cases of activists being killed while trying to save the land from development, for the production of consumer staples like coffee and palm oil. The demand for these products is massive, so business actors need land for this but when people stand up for their rights and environment they can’t be stopped.
