RBI: Banks can use Aadhar for KYC with customer's consent

RBI updated KYC norms to be followed by banks & other entities regulated by it for various customer services, including the opening of bank accounts. Banks can now carry out Aadhar authentication/offline-verification of an individual who voluntarily uses his Aadhar number for identification purpose. The RBI further said that 'Proof of possession of Aadhar number' has been added to the list of OVD.
