RBI is minimizing printing of Rs 2000 banknote

A senior official from RBI has revealed that the government is scaling down printing of Rs 2000 note to a minimum. This scaling down is carried out as the government from time to time decides on the quantum of currency to be printed on the basis of money in circulation. Rs 2000 notes accounted for 50.2% of the total money in circulation in March 2017, which was brought down to 37.3% in March 2018.
