RTI filed for cost of destroying demonetized notes, RBI refuses disclosure

Chandrashekhar Gaud, an RTI activist from Madhya Pradesh, who filed an RTI seeking information about the cost incurred by RBI for shredding banned currency notes worth Rs 15,31,073 crore which returned to banks following demonetisation, has informed that RBI has refused to accept his request stating that the information was not available and providing it would "disproportionately divert the resources" of the RBI.
